ODESSA
For over 14 years the 272nd
Fusiliers have been host to one of the largest gatherings of WW2
Reenactors on the East Coast. Located in the rolling hills of
Central New York, the Odessa Event has been the gathering place
for some of the finest units in WW2 reenacting. Odessa as an event
has always strived for a fun, safe step back in time to a
turbulent period of history. By using traditional tactics of the
period, those who attend are expected to solve some of the
same types of problems that faced their predecessors.
Odessa encourages vintage
vehicle owners to bring their "toys" to come and roam
the almost 1600 acres of battlefield. It is not uncommon to see a
Tank roll by followed by a Jeep. Vehicles have free reign of the
battlefield, creating opportunities and hindrances for either side
all at the same time.
In 2009, the 272nd will be
host to the first Eastern Front event at Odessa. Units from all
over the Northeast and Midwest will participate. They will
represent units from Russia and her eastern Allies as well as
German units and their Allies sent to the Russian Front.
If you are interested in
attending Odessa as a participant unit, we encourage you to visit
the event website for more information.
