The Kar 98k Mauser rifle was the standard infantry weapon in service with the German army in World War II. Adopted by the Wehrmacht in 1934, it was a single shot, bolt action rifle with a rate of fire of 15 rounds per minute and an effective range of 500 meters with open sights. Over 14 million were produced during the war.
The Maschinengewehr 34 was the first modern general purpose light machine gun used by the German army in World War II. Adopted in 1934, it was primarily used as an infantry support weapon with a maximum range of 800 meters and a rate of fire of 900 rounds per minute. It was belt or drum fed and remained in service throughout the war.
The Maschinengewehr 42 was the successor to the MG34 as an efficient replacement light machine gun. It had a higher rate of fire at 1200 rounds per minute and an effective range of 800 meters. It was a much more cost effective weapon than the MG34 and was used from 1942 to the end of the war.
The Luger P08 and the Walther P38 were 9mm pistols issued to NCO’s and officers of the Wehrmacht throughout the Second World War. Although the later P38 was a more reliable weapon, they both had a similar effective range of 25 meters and an effective range of 15 rounds per minute.
The model 24 stielhandgranate or “potato masher” was the standard hand grenade of the German army throughout World War II. It was primarily a concussion explosive that was ideal against entrenched enemy positions.
